Why This Seat Matters
House District 27 covers communities across the west side of Salt Lake County — parts of Magna, Kearns, West Valley City, West Jordan, and Copperton — and it deserves a representative who genuinely knows them. This is a competitive, diverse district with a high share of independent voters and real economic pressures. Anthony Loubet is the first Republican to hold this seat, and the November 3, 2026 general election will determine whether District 27 keeps the principled, community-focused leadership it has earned.
Meet Anthony
Anthony Loubet is a husband, the father of six children, and a practicing attorney who has dedicated his legal career to public policy and advocating for the rights and dignity of people with disabilities. He lives in West Valley City, in the heart of the district he represents, and his commitment to the west side is not a campaign message — it's his life.
In the Utah House, Anthony has built a record defined by practicality and principle. He works across the aisle on health and human services, affordability for working families, and government transparency — and he gets things done. He sponsored and passed a constitutional amendment that increased transparency around ballot initiatives, giving Utah voters clearer, more straightforward information before they cast their ballots. He also passed amendments to clergy reporting requirements that created civil and criminal liability protections when clergy members report sex abuse — a bill that required careful, coalition-building work to get across the finish line.
Anthony approaches every vote the same way he approaches his legal work: listen carefully, understand the tradeoffs, and do what's right for the people counting on you. As the first Republican to represent this district, he's demonstrated that conservative governance works here — and that it's possible to hold firm on principle while still earning the trust of a diverse, independent-minded community.
What He’s Running On
Affordability — West Side families are feeling the pressure of rising costs across the board — housing, groceries, utilities, insurance, and healthcare. Anthony believes government should live within its means just as families do: spend responsibly, cut unnecessary red tape that drives up costs, and support policies that create jobs and strengthen small businesses for working families and seniors on fixed incomes.
Education — Every child deserves access to a strong education, regardless of their zip code. Anthony supports high classroom standards, great teachers, and schools that focus on the fundamentals that prepare students for life — whether that's college, technical training, military service, or entering the workforce. Parents should have a meaningful voice, and students should graduate with real opportunities.
Infrastructure — The 2034 Olympics are a significant opportunity for Utah, and Anthony believes infrastructure investments should be approached responsibly and strategically — focused on projects that improve transportation, public safety, and economic growth in ways that benefit communities long after the games conclude. Utah taxpayers deserve investments that are practical, transparent, and built for the long term.
Social Services and Clean Air — A strong community takes care of its most vulnerable neighbors without wasting taxpayer dollars. Anthony supports accountable systems that treat seniors, people with disabilities, and families facing hardship with dignity — and he backs practical, science-driven solutions on clean air and the Great Salt Lake, which affect west-side communities most directly.
The Field
Anthony Loubet secured the Republican nomination at the convention and will not face a primary. He will be on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot in what is expected to be one of the more competitive races in Utah this cycle. As the first Republican to hold District 27, Anthony has proven that conservative leadership can earn the trust of a diverse, independent-minded community — and he has the record, the roots, and the relationships to defend it. That's why we're proud to endorse him.
