Why This Seat Matters

The Utah Senate shapes the laws that govern how families across the southwest valley live — how their taxes are calculated, how their roads are funded, what is taught in their schools, and how the state protects the values they hold. Senate District 18 covers Riverton, Herriman, Bluffdale, and the surrounding communities of one of Utah's fastest-growing corridors. Voters in the June 23, 2026 Republican primary will choose who continues to represent them at the Capitol.

Meet Dan

Dan McCay is a practicing attorney, a graduate of Utah State University, a proud husband, and the father of six children. He has lived and worked in the southwest valley for years, and his roots in the community he represents aren't incidental to how he governs — they're the whole point.

In the Utah Senate, Dan has built a record that's specific enough to verify. He has helped deliver more than $1.5 billion in annual tax relief for Utah families through income tax cuts, property tax reductions, and a consistent commitment to keeping Utah affordable. He has also helped secure over $7 billion in transportation investment to improve roads and reduce congestion across a region that is growing faster than almost anywhere else in the state.

Beyond fiscal policy, Dan has been a leading voice for Utah values. He has defended parental rights, expanded educational choice, protected girls' sports, restricted gender reassignment surgeries for minors, and championed policies that protect children online. His record reflects a senator who takes the full scope of his job seriously — not just the budget, but the values that define Utah communities. That's why he counts U.S. Senator Mike Lee, Congressman Mike Kennedy, every Republican state senator, and dozens of local elected officials among his supporters.

What He’s Running On

Cutting Taxes and Keeping Utah Affordable — Dan's top priority is keeping Utah competitive and affordable for working families. He has helped deliver $1.5 billion in annual tax relief and will continue fighting to reduce income taxes, ease property tax burdens, and ensure that government doesn't take more from families than it needs.

Transportation Infrastructure — The southwest valley is growing, and growth without infrastructure investment means congestion, longer commutes, and reduced quality of life. Dan has been instrumental in securing $7 billion in transportation funding to keep roads moving and communities connected as the region expands.

Reducing Government Regulation and Increasing Transparency — Dan believes government should be efficient, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves. He supports removing unnecessary regulations that burden businesses and families, and he pushes for the kind of transparency in government operations that builds — and earns — public trust.

Defending Utah Values — From parental rights to educational choice to protecting children online, Dan has been a consistent and effective advocate for the values that matter most to southwest valley families.

He has broad support from state and local elected officials across the region and brings the kind of institutional knowledge and legislative relationships that only come from years of effective service. That's why we're proud to endorse him.
