Doers Kickoff Event Draws Statewide Crowd
After months of building, more than 75 Doers met for an in-person kickoff: folks who run chambers of commerce, successful small-business owners, nonprofit directors, school advocates, and long-time neighborhood volunteers. It was a night of handshakes, new introductions, and answers to the problems Utahns live with every day.
A moment of focus
Our CEO, Riley Owen, gave short but powerful remarks about why we are here. He called the room back to a simple operating principle — governing is about showing up, doing the homework, and getting good things done. The message to the candidates, community leaders, and officials in the room was clear: the support behind you is substantive, organized, and ready to mobilize.
Exciting beginnings for the Doers Network
For the past five months, the Doers Network has largely been a digital community. Tonight it became a living network of connection, laughter, and problem solving through healthy dialogue. It was a powerful beginning that inspired us to work even harder to get communities connected and strong leaders elected. That's exactly what we're going to do, together.
What’s next
Most news outlets and state leaders are still focused on the Hill for the legislative session. So, we will continue to grow, plan, and lay the foundation for when election season kicks off in March.
For those who missed our kickoff -- fear not. Many other events are in the works. Watch for regional meetings, volunteer trainings, and candidate meet-and-greets in the weeks ahead. If you care about leaders who do the work — not just talk about it — the Doers Network is where that is happening.
