On Saturday, August 1, over 200 Utahns including elected officials, candidates, community leaders and friends celebrated America 250 with the Doers Network at Wheeler Historic Farm. 

 

The event

Our program was designed with Utah families in mind. We had R&R BBQ with a full spread of great food to share, along with lots of opportunities to mingle and network, as well as lawn games and activities outside for those wanting a break from the barn. It was a hot day but that didn't stop attendees from heading outside to take pictures with our photo booth, grab a popsicle from Americans for Prosperity, and play volleyball with other Utahns. 

 

Hearing from Utah leaders

The highlight of the night was the opportunity to hear from Senator John Curtis, Congressman Burgess Owens, and Congressman Blake Moore speak about the past and future of this great nation. They spent most of the evening with attendees, answering questions and getting to know their constituents but each took a few minutes to share their thoughts on this historic anniversary. 

Senator Curtis spoke about his experience walking 250 miles across Utah this summer and especially about how he discovered that this anniversary is much more about the country as a whole than it is about any partisanship. 

Congressman Owens shared his perspective as a conservative and how it has changed through his life and through his service as a Congressman. He also spoke about the need for us to more united in our similarities in our goals than divided within the party. 

Congressman Moore talked about the future plans for the country and the exciting developments to look forward to. He encouraged attendees to get civically involved in these programs. 

Doers Network State Director Zac Wilson also spoke to introduce the Doers Network and its mission to get more Republicans voted into office who will actually get things done. 

 

Our partners

Doers Network was able to partner with ACC Action, Americans for Prosperity, College Republicans, and Young Republicans in order to make this event a reality. Each of them set up a booth and were able to talk to attendees all night. Their contribution was invaluable to the evening and we're grateful for all that they did to help. 

 

So what's next?

The Doers Network is heading into November for the general election! Although many of our candidates essentially won their race in the primaries, there are still some races to keep an eye on as the next round of campaigning heats up. Learn about some of them here.
