Why This Seat Matters

House District 37 covers Kearns, Taylorsville, and West Jordan — communities on the west side of Salt Lake County with real concerns about neighborhood safety, economic opportunity, and a state government that actually responds to their needs. The seat is currently held by a Democrat, and the November 3, 2026 general election is a genuine opportunity to bring a principled conservative voice to a district that deserves real representation at the Capitol.

 

Meet Casey

Casey Saxton grew up to understand government from the inside — not as a talking point, but as a system with processes, pressures, and real consequences for real people. He’s spent eight years working in communications and public affairs, first at the local level and then in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he has served as a District Director. That experience has given him a ground-level view of what it actually takes to make government work better: cutting through bureaucracy, improving transparency, and staying accountable to the citizens a representative is supposed to serve.

Casey earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Marketing — with a minor in Political Science — from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, then added an MBA from USU. He lives in Kearns, in the heart of the district he’s running to represent.

He’s running because he knows what good governance looks like — and he knows when it’s missing. District 37 has gone without a serious conservative challenger for years. Casey is changing that, bringing the same communication skills, policy depth, and service ethic he’s developed at the federal level to a race that matters for thousands of west-side families.

 

What He’s Running On

Public Safety — Crime and neighborhood safety are front-of-mind concerns for west-side communities. Casey will work to support law enforcement, back policies that hold offenders accountable, and ensure that the state is doing everything it can to make Kearns, Taylorsville, and West Jordan safe places to raise a family.

Local Decision Making — Casey believes that the decisions affecting communities should be made as close to those communities as possible. He’ll push back on top-down mandates and work to keep local governments, school boards, and families empowered to make choices that reflect their own values.

Economic Growth — The west side of Salt Lake County has legacy communities with real economic development needs. Casey will champion free-market policies that reduce barriers for small businesses, support job creation, and make it easier for working families to build economic stability in their own backyard.

Fiscal Responsibility — Casey’s background in government gave him a clear view of where waste happens and where efficiency is possible. He supports continued income tax reductions, disciplined state spending, and a government that delivers services without growing beyond what taxpayers can sustain.

Casey Saxton ran uncontested at the Salt Lake County convention, securing the Republican nomination. He will face the Democrat incumbent on November 3, 2026 in what is expected to be a competitive general election. District 37 hasn’t had a serious conservative challenger in years — Casey is the right candidate to change that.
