Why This Seat Matters

Utah House District 30 covers West Valley City — the second-largest and most diverse city in the state. Representing it well takes someone who understands the full spectrum of that community’s needs: families navigating rising housing costs, small business owners trying to stay competitive, parents invested in better schools, and working households that feel every tax decision at the state level. The November 3, 2026 general election will determine who makes those decisions for District 30 at the Capitol.

 

Meet Dave

Dave Parke was born in Ogden to a large family of nine siblings and has been a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young man, he served a mission in Concepción, Chile — during the reign of Pinochet — an experience that gave him a firsthand view of what authoritarian government looks like and why the principles of freedom and limited government matter. He went on to earn an Associate’s degree from Weber State University, a Bachelor’s in Business and a second Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages (Spanish) from Southern Utah University, and an MBA in Organizational Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

Over 35 years of executive leadership at Fortune 500 companies gave Dave a deep foundation in how organizations work at scale. In 2010, a personal experience navigating the senior care system for a family member led him to open a senior in-home care franchise in West Valley City. Over the past 16 years, that business has created more than 2,500 jobs and provided essential in-home care for thousands of Utah families. It’s a record that speaks directly to his values: Dave Parke doesn’t just talk about strengthening communities and supporting working families — he’s built a business that does exactly that.

As a 35-year resident of West Valley City, Dave brings something to this race that’s genuinely rare: he knows this district. He understands its diversity, its growth pressures, and the everyday concerns of the multicultural families who call it home. As a fiscal conservative with pragmatic, mainstream instincts, he’s running to be a practical advocate for those families.

 

What He’s Running On

Strengthening Education — Dave believes that strong schools are the foundation of strong communities. He is committed to supporting education funding that reaches classrooms, teacher development that improves outcomes, and policies that give parents confidence in their local schools.

Keeping Taxes Responsible — After decades in business leadership, Dave understands that tax policy isn’t abstract — it affects every family’s budget and every employer’s hiring decisions. He will bring a CFO’s mindset to state spending: prioritizing essential services, eliminating waste, and opposing tax increases that squeeze working households.

Supporting Small Businesses — Dave built a business from the ground up in West Valley City and knows what it takes to grow jobs in a community like District 30. He will fight for a regulatory and tax environment that lets small business owners compete, hire, and invest in their communities.

Making Housing More Affordable — Housing affordability is one of the most urgent issues facing Utah families right now. Dave supports policies that expand the supply of attainable housing, reduce development barriers, and make it possible for working families to put down roots in the communities they love.

Dave Parke won 86% of the delegate vote at the Salt Lake County convention, clinching the Republican nomination outright and bypassing the primary. He will be on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot. He’s a candidate with genuine roots in this district, a business record built on job creation and community service, and a practical, people-first approach to the issues that matter most to West Valley City families.
