House District 50 covers Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs, two of the fastest-growing communities in Utah. The decisions made in this seat directly affect how schools are funded, how infrastructure keeps pace with growth, and whether families have a real voice in the decisions that affect their children. The June 23, 2026 primary will determine who continues that work, and the stakes for District 50 families are significant.

 

Meet Stephanie

Stephanie Gricius moved to Eagle Mountain in 2010 with her husband Chris and has been building her life there ever since. They’re raising five children, serve as a foster family, and have opened their home to children from hard places while staying active in their church and community. Service has been a constant thread: Stephanie started volunteering as a YMCA t-ball coach at 14 and hasn’t stopped since. Her civic career grew out of a fight, not an ambition. In 2014, when the Utah Legislature debated relocating the state prison to Eagle Mountain, Gricius organized her neighbors and helped lead the opposition. That experience convinced her the community needed a stronger local voice. She ran for the Eagle Mountain City Council in 2015, served until 2020, and used her time there to bring major employers to the city, push back on unnecessary red tape for small businesses, and make sure Eagle Mountain had representation at the regional transportation table.

She’s now in her second term in the Utah House, and she’s moved fast. Gricius chairs both the Judiciary Committee and the Administrative Rules Review and General Oversight Committee, serves as Vice-Chair of Social Services Appropriations, sits on the House Majority Leadership Team as Caucus Manager, and is a board member of the Utah Lake Authority and the Indigent Defense Commission. Her legislative record is concrete: she passed the nation’s first ban on adding hydrofluorosilicic acid to drinking water, authored the most robust parental rights protections for mental health services in schools, sponsored SB188 to ensure Saratoga Springs gets a new high school without being forced to subsidize other districts, and fixed how population data is calculated for road funding so that fast-growing communities like Eagle Mountain get their fair share. Both her water safety and parental rights bills drew national recognition from the Trump Administration.

 

What She’s Running On

Parental Rights — Stephanie authored legislation making Utah’s parental rights protections in mental health services the strongest in the country. Parents, not school administrators or outside providers, should make the calls that affect their kids.

Water Safety and Health Freedom — Gricius passed the first ban in the nation on adding hydrofluorosilicic acid to drinking water, while simultaneously deregulating fluoride tablets through pharmacies so families retain the choice of how to protect their children’s health.

Local Education Investment — Stephanie was the House sponsor for SB188, which required Alpine School District to bond for a new high school in Saratoga Springs and ensured the new district wouldn’t be forced to subsidize others as it got on its feet.

Smart Growth and Fair Infrastructure Funding — Gricius changed how the state calculates population data for tax and transportation funding, replacing backward-looking census figures with more current state data. For a city growing as fast as Eagle Mountain, that difference is measurable: more money for roads, sooner.
