Mike Bird, our endorsed candidate for Salt Lake County Council District 3 kicked off his general election campaign with a weekend barbecue and the Doers Network showed up to support him.

The event was hosted by Murray Mayor Brett Hales, Taylorsville Mayor Kristie Overson, West Jordan Mayor Dirk Burton, and Salt Lake County Council Chair Aimee Winder Newton.

Local and state officials from across Salt Lake County also turned out to show their support for Bird's candidacy.

Bird is a fifth-generation Murray native and a Murray High School graduate. He earned a business degree and student body presidency at Salt Lake Community College before completing a bachelor's in business administration and a master's in finance at the University of Utah. He now serves as Director of Operations and Finance at University of Utah Health, bringing a decade of healthcare industry experience to his campaign. Bird chairs the SLCC Alumni Leadership Council and serves as board chair of Sabu Help International, a nonprofit serving Ghana. He and his wife, Kim, an elementary teacher in the Murray school district, are raising four boys who attend Murray schools.

Bird's campaign, "Rooted in our District. Committed to our Community," centers on community safety, affordable housing, education resources, and addressing rising mental health needs.
