Just behind the primary election, Doers-endorsed candidates and supporters met in Lehi for a Meet the Candidates event focused on Utah County and the issues facing our communities.

 

An evening of real conversation

Every candidate had the floor to talk about their campaign such as where they come from, what brought them to public service, and what they plan to accomplish in office. No one was cut short, and each set of remarks opened into questions and discussion.

Candidates who had spent months working their own districts also had time to sit down with each other. They could compare notes on what voters are raising at the doors and talk through how they can back each other up over the remaining weeks of their campaigns. Ultimately, candidates from all levels of government where able to be connected in one room with one main similarity- that they were true Doers in the race. 

 

The team behind the endorsement

Utah County Board Chair Nicki Brammer and Doers Network State Director Zac Wilson spoke about the Doers Network and where it is going, such as its mission of backing candidates with integrity, honesty, and a dedication to getting things done.

Other members of the Utah County Board were able to attend as well and spend time with the candidates they've spent months backing.

Each of them gave up an evening in the middle of a campaign to be there, and we are grateful for it.

 

What's next

The primaries are over, and many of our Utah County candidates will not face a competitive race in November. That is a sign of strong candidates and good campaigns, and it also frees up time and volunteers for the places that still need them.

There is no shortage of ways to pitch in. Races in other parts of the state remain close. Our Utah County candidates are still knocking doors, meeting voters, and building relationships they will carry into office. And past November, we are recruiting for the next cycle, training new candidates, and growing our regional groups. All of it runs on volunteers.
